Surface Area

Do Now: Find the area of the Chocolate Bar
Essetinal Question:

How do chocolate companies know how much material/paper to use when rapping the surface of  a chocolate bar?

Class information
Vocab:
  • Net-is a two-dimensional pattern of a three-dimensional figure that can be folded to form the figure. In other words, net is a flattened three-dimensional figure which can be turned into the solid by folding it.

Surface Area Formula

Part 1

NOTE: Only problems 1, 7, 13

Part 2
Using your piece of chocolate, find the measurements of the surface area that will cover your chocolate.

Homeowork:

Write a reflection about the video and article posted under class information.
Using a rule, find the surface area of three different objects at home.  You must bring in the objects itw measuments and work  clear stated on a sheet of paper.  Draw the net of each object you use.

Thank you,

Ms. Garcia

Comparing measures for parts of circles and the whole circle.

Before we found the circumference and area of a circle.

Now we will find the arc length of a circle and the area of sectors.

DO NOW:
  1. Using your corn tortilla, Divide the circle into 8 equal parts.
  2. Remember a circle is 360.
  3. Label each piece with correct degree measure.
